Wildlife Hospital Baby Shower |
Baby season is here at the von Arx Wildlife Hospital! Right now, we have many injured and orphaned baby animals in our care. One of the easiest ways to have a tangible impact on the level of care we can provide those animals is to take part in our annual virtual Wildlife Baby Shower.
Head over to our Amazon Wish List today and donate any of the much-needed items you see there. Thank you very much for your continued support!

Critical to the future of our state – and its imperiled species |
Florida Wildlife Corridor |
With a current population of only 120-230, the current survival plan for the endangered Florida panther stipulates that securing additional habitat to grow the population – and the corridors to connect them to maintain genetic flow - is essential. A panther’s territory is vast, as they roam to find mates and food; as an umbrella species, protecting panther habitat can also protect other wildlife that inhabit the same lands. |

How land development is affecting birds |
Although South Florida’s tropical climate makes it a perfect rest stop for many migratory birds escaping the northern cold winters, it also has become a popular destination for many people wanting to do the very same thing. However, this has caused an unfortunate conflict between people and the avian species that reside here. |

Protected species need your help |
Help stop a proposed mining operation |
A long-time potato farm in the Density Reduction Groundwater Resource (DGRG) area in Lee County is seeking to become a mining operation. The Troyer Brothers Mine proposal involves the construction and excavation of a new limestone mine, as well as associated rock processing and ancillary operations. In order to do this, Troyer has applied for a 404 Clean Water Act permit from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). |
